The servers are the protagonists of the game and the first thing I designed when I started writing the GDD. The first design that I made with Photoshop without the 'IsometrIcon' plugin (which I highly recommend) it doesn't have the correct isometric measurements. Even so, from the first design the idea was that the servers would have animations to identify the different problems at a glance. The temperature and the fire were very important at the beginning, therefore the ceiling of the servers didn't have a strobe light but a grill for the smoke.

Then I made the servers slimmer and with elements that I could easily animate like the monitor and overhead light so the player could recognize which servers needed to be fixed even if there were a lot of crowded servers. I did the different animations within Unity using the default tools. Surely there are plugins that would have made my task easier, I still have a lot to learn from Unity.

Lastly, 'Help Items' such as the fire extinguisher, the emergency generator, and the antivirus (whose design, if it's inspired by Overwatch's loot boxes, is purely coincidental) previously had to be placed by the player to fix multiple servers without solving microgames.
This mechanic was simplified so the art of the 'help items' were no longer necessary.

'Panic Servered' is a 2019 final project of the master's degree in 'Videogame Creation' (Málaga, Spain) in which I worked with three friends. Although the original idea was mine, it would not have been possible to complete it without them. You can find them here:
